Location Overview
This 21-day Costa Rica expedition empowers high school students to step beyond the classroom and into an immersive, life-shaping experience. The program is designed to develop student leadership through purposeful travel, community engagement, and outdoor challenge. With a balance of cultural immersion, sustainability-focused service work, and outdoor adventure, students build resilience, critical thinking, and global awareness.
¡Bienvenidos! Although Costa Rica is a small country, it contains a staggering 6% of the world’s biodiversity. Our journey begins in the capital, San José, where we explore markets, historic plazas, and sample traditional dishes like gallo pinto. These first days are all about group bonding and setting intentions, our instructor will guide students through orientation activities to build trust, connection, and shared purpose.
Students work side-by-side with farmers, teachers, and youth, learning about the deep connection between people and land, and gaining insight into the challenges and triumphs of rural life in Costa Rica. Through shared meals, stories, and hard work, students build trust, practice empathy, and begin to understand what responsible community-based development looks like.
