Service Programs are student-led expeditions designed to immerse young people in international development, global issues, and cross-cultural exchange. While sharing the same structure and itinerary style as our other expeditions, Service Programs focus on project management, international service learning, and cultural immersion.
Students engage in hands-on development work such as infrastructure building, environmental projects, or community support while exploring the broader social, economic, and cultural contexts of the region. These experiences are deeply experiential, combining real-world impact with critical reflection and global perspective.
Perfect for students passionate about creating change, these programs foster empathy, problem-solving, and leadership through meaningful community collaboration.
Where Global Learning Meets Meaningful Service
Designed to inspire meaningful global engagement.
Unearthed Education Service Learning Journeys take students to communities around the world where learning happens through collaboration, cultural exchange, and shared purpose. Each destination offers opportunities for students to better understand global challenges while contributing to community-led initiatives.
From rural villages and conservation areas to vibrant cultural centers, our programs connect students with the people, environments, and projects shaping each region. Participants engage in hands-on service experiences while learning about the social, environmental, and economic contexts that influence local communities.
Every program follows Unearthed Education’s expedition framework—balancing service work, cultural immersion, adventure, and structured reflection. This approach ensures that students not only contribute meaningfully to the communities they visit, but also return home with a deeper sense of global responsibility and perspective.
Our Process
Meaningful service learning requires thoughtful planning, strong partnerships, and intentional reflection. Unearthed Education works with educators to design programs that combine hands-on service with cultural learning and global perspective. From early planning through the expedition experience, our team supports each step of the journey.

1. Program Design & Community Context
We begin by working with educators to design a program that aligns with student interests and learning goals. Destinations and service projects are selected with care, ensuring that students engage with initiatives that are locally guided and connected to the broader social and environmental context of the region.

2. Preparation & Program Launch
Before departure, students prepare for the experience through program briefings and discussions that introduce the cultural context, community goals, and the role students will play in supporting local projects. This preparation helps students approach their service with respect, awareness, and a deeper understanding of the communities they will encounter.

3. Service Learning in Action
During the journey, students participate in hands-on service projects while learning directly from local partners and community members. Structured reflection and group discussion help students connect their experiences to larger global issues, encouraging thoughtful engagement, empathy, and long-term commitment to positive change.
